Ricardo Gomes is a lawyer. He served as Vice Mayor of Porto Alegre. He holds a postgraduate degree in Labor Law and Labor Procedure. He is a partner at Gomes & Takeda Advogados. He has served as Municipal Secretary for Economic Development and Tourism and as a City Councilor in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul.
He was President of the IEE – Institute of Entrepreneurial Studies (2011–2012). He also chaired the Latin America Liberal Network (RELIAL).
He is a member of the Mont Pèlerin Society, an organization founded by F. A. Hayek in 1947.
